Entertainment: Edem becomes Africa’s first Absolute Vodka Artist



Just stumbled across the wonderful news via Ghana Web.com that Edem, one of Ghana’s greatest recording artists has been signed to entertainment giant, Absolute Vodka, making him the first African artist on their book.. Ghanaian rapper, Edem has been officially announced as Abdolut Vodka Artist by Pernod-Ricard the second largest worldwide premium spirits company with a portfolio that includes leading iconic brands such as Absolut Vodka, Chivas Regal Scotch Whiskey, Jameson Irish Whiskey , Malibu Rhum , Olmeca tequila , Martell Cognac and others.

The announcement makes Edem the first African to be signed on by Absolut Vodka. The endorsement means that Edem will appear in a series of activation events for Absolut Vodka particular within the Greater Accra Region, while falling on the global presence of the brand to solidify his artistic genius in the African Music Industry as well.

Officials of Pernod-Ricard hinted that they plan to choose an artist for Absolut Vodka annually based on what pertains within the industry. As part of this development, a series of events, parties, product activations and product testing will be rolled out throughout the year. The maiden edition of Absolut Vodka Party Mix Tour with Edem kicked off on a good note at Rockstone’s Office on Friday, May 3. The next stop for the Absolut Vodka Party Mix Tour will be announced soon.

Absolut Vodka has for over 30 years collaborated extensively with the creative world to the point where today Absolut Art Collection comprises more than 800 works from artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Jean-Micael Basquiat, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Louise Bourgeois, Sylvie Fleury, David Shrigley and Linn Fernstrom. With regards to music Absolut Vodka has done collaborations with Lenny Kravitz, Kanye West, Spike Jonze, Cee-Lo Green and Jay-Z. In 2012 Absolut Vodka is collaborating with the European group, Swedish House of Mafia to help build the music industry worldwide.
